Sustainability in Procurement
Sustainability within procurement is a cornerstone of our strategy. By integrating ethical and environmentally responsible practices, we continuously work toward a greener future. Our commitment to Science Based Targets highlights our ambition to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and significantly reduce our environmental footprint.
Driving Sustainable Operations
We prioritize environmentally responsible sourcing and sustainable practices to ensure high-quality operations and exceptional guest experiences. Recycling materials and effectively managing food waste are critical pillars of our operational sustainability, enabling us to make a real impact. Additionally, we focus on energy efficiency through smart usage of lighting, machinery, and equipment, supported by clear guidelines for staff.
Comprehensive Strategy and Ethical Practices
Our sustainability strategy spans all our brands, aligning every aspect of our business with our commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable growth. We enforce a strict code of conduct for suppliers to ensure ethical practices throughout our supply chain. Furthermore, we prioritize animal welfare, ensuring humane and ethical sourcing practices that reflect our values.
Empowering Our People
Our people are at the heart of our success. We are committed to creating a secure and inclusive environment, offering training and engagement opportunities to empower our teams to drive sustainability efforts and contribute to our shared goals.
ECC Summary – April 2025, O’Learys Sweden
We maintain an ongoing dialogue with our suppliers regarding their long-term and short-term goals related to the sourcing of raw materials from chicken producers and farmers. This dialogue includes the criteria outlined in the European Chicken Commitment (ECC). Animal welfare is always a key focus for us, along with identifying opportunities to reduce our climate impact.
Our menus have seen a continuous increase in plant-based options for our guests, providing greater choice and enabling guests to enjoy, for example, vegan or vegetarian meals in our restaurants.
Looking Ahead
We hope that producers and suppliers will be able to provide opportunities for us to procure chicken that meets the ECC criteria. However, at this time, the availability is very limited, which means that we are currently unable to meet the ECC requirements.
The European Chicken Commitment (ECC) is an initiative developed by leading animal welfare organizations aiming to improve the welfare of chickens in food production.
